After high school she furthered
her education by attending Lincoln Business College,
and also completed extended computer courses at IBM
and Business Systems in Wilmington, Delaware.
She was married to the late Major
Crooms, Jr.; to which union were born five children:
2 sons and 3 daughters.
She was employed at McDonald’s as
an Administrative Assistant to the owner for a
period of 14 years. She is a Notary Public and a
member of the National Society of Notaries. She
serves in the community as a member of the Board of
Directors for the Boys and Girls Club, and the
Northwest Mental Health Association. She is also a
volunteer with the American Cancer Society.
Mother Crooms, a third generation
Church of God in Christ member, is the granddaughter
of the late Overseer William Curtis; who was the
first Overseer of COGIC in the State of Florida.
She was inspired by her mother’s dedication and
loyalty to God to receive the baptism of the Holy
Ghost at an early age. She has served in the Youth
Department, and in numerous other areas of the works
of the church.
After accepting the call to the
ministry in 1968, she began working as an Evangelist
Missionary. In 1974, after serving on the
Jacksonville District as Secretary and Chairperson
to the late District Missionary Sarah Summers, she
was appointed as District Missionary of the
Jacksonville District. In 1982, she became
Chairperson to the late State Supervisor, Mother
Susie Johnson.
On November 12, 1993, she was
appointed to the position of State Supervisor of
Women’s Department of Central Florida Third
Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. And continues in that
same capacity in the recently formed Central Florida
First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. She brings a
wealth of knowledge and experience to her position
as Jurisdictional Supervisor.
She has received numerous awards
from both community and church for her untiring
labor and devotion to her responsibilities. She is
a member of the National Executive Board National
Blue Ribbon Committee of the Women’s Department of
Church of God in Christ.
One of her favorite Scriptures
is: “In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good
works; in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity,
sincerity.” Titus 2:7
