After high school she furthered her education by attending Lincoln Business College, and also completed extended computer courses at IBM and Business Systems in Wilmington, Delaware.

She was married to the late Major Crooms, Jr.; to which union were born five children: 2 sons and 3 daughters.

She was employed at McDonald’s as an Administrative Assistant to the owner for a period of 14 years.  She is a Notary Public and a member of the National Society of Notaries.  She serves in the community as a member of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club, and the Northwest Mental Health Association.  She is also a volunteer with the American Cancer Society.

Mother Crooms, a third generation Church of God in Christ member, is the granddaughter of the late Overseer William Curtis; who was the first Overseer of COGIC in the State of Florida.  She was inspired by her mother’s dedication and loyalty to God to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost at an early age.  She has served in the Youth Department, and in numerous other areas of the works of the church.

After accepting the call to the ministry in 1968, she began working as an Evangelist Missionary.  In 1974, after serving on the Jacksonville District as Secretary and Chairperson to the late District Missionary Sarah Summers, she was appointed as District Missionary of the Jacksonville District.  In 1982, she became Chairperson to the late State Supervisor, Mother Susie Johnson.

On November 12, 1993, she was appointed to the position of State Supervisor of Women’s Department of Central Florida Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.  And continues in that same capacity in the recently formed Central Florida First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her position as Jurisdictional Supervisor.

She has received numerous awards from both community and church for her untiring labor and devotion to her responsibilities.  She is a member of the National Executive Board National Blue Ribbon Committee of the Women’s Department of Church of God in Christ.

One of her favorite Scriptures is: “In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works; in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity.”  Titus 2:7
