He married Martha
Fitzgerald on March 23, 1963; and is the proud
father of five children: Elmer, Cynthia, Linda,
Zephaniah and Timothy.
He accepted the Lord as
his personal Savior in 1966, and was called to the
ministry in 1969. In 1971, he joined Faust Temple
Church of God in Christ; in Jacksonville, Florida.
In 1973, he was ordained to the position of Elder in
the Church of God in Christ by the late Bishop
Jessie Williams.
In 1976, he founded the
West Jacksonville Church of God in Christ. In 1984,
he was appointed as Superintendent of the West
Jacksonville District; and later, in 1984, was
appointed as First Administrative Assistant to the
then Bishop Calvin D. Kinsey.
He was appointed to the
Pastorate of Faust Temple Church of God in Christ in
1992, after the death of Pastor Faust.
In 2002 he was appointed
Bishop Designee of Central Florida Ecclesiastical
Jurisdiction Number 1; and Consecrated and installed
as the Jurisdictional Prelate in February 2003.
His educational
achievements include: the Associate of Arts Degree
from Florida Junior College in 1977, the Bachelor’s
Degree in Vocational Education in 1979 from the
University of North Florida, the Masters of Theology
Degree in Theology from Truth Bible College &
Seminary in 1997, and the Doctorate of Theology
Degree from Truth Bible College & Seminary in 1999.
In 2000, he received the Honorary Doctorate of
Theology from Saint Thomas Christian College.
Business and Community
accomplishments include founding of Little Winners
Day Care in 1981; and in 2002, he was appointed
Director of the One Church-One Child Board of
Florida by Governor Jeb Bush.
He enlisted in the
United States Navy in 1955, served in Vietnam 1n
1970, and was retired from military service in 1975.
Occupationally, he has
served as Instructor at Northside Skills Center in
Jacksonville, Florida. In addition, he also served
as Instructor for the Southside Skills Center and
the Westside Skills Center; both also in
Jacksonville, Florida.
