Message: "Pentecost" Dr. Henry Butts
Dr. Butts was saved in 1961 and was called to the ministry the same year. He served as the former District Superintendent of the Church of God in Christ of Western Louisiana and is the former Chairman of the State Board of Directors. For 45 years, through God's anointing, Dr. Butts preached, witnessed to, prayed and helped saved thousands of souls. During that time, 20 ministers have evolved under his leadership, seven of which are now full time pastors in the Church of God In Christ. Dr. Butts has made a tremendous impact and numerous contributions to the work of the Lord, Jesus Christ. In 1976, he became the pastor of Butts Temple Church of God In Christ after the passing of his father Bishop Eddie Butts, where he served for 30 years. Dr. Butts is the founder and Executive Director of the Daily Bread Feeding Program which has fed over 900,000 people to date. He is a former board member of the Community Development Citizens Advisory Board and of the Daytona Beach Police and ministers Association and a life Member of the NAACP. He was also a charter member of the Board of Directors of the Mary McLeod Bethune Enrichment Center. He was also cited for his leadership in being instrumental in getting a band shell constructed in the Daisy Stocking Park, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Over the years, Dr. Butts has been honored with many awards and recognitions. He was named "Citizen of the Year" by the Daytona Beach Community Development Board, honored with the distinguished "Jefferson Award" by WESH Channel 2 News. He is a recipient of the NAACP's "Civil Rights Award" and the "Humanitarian Service Award". He has also received recognition from the Daytona Beach Police Department for "Outstanding Service to the Community", "The Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Contributions to Religion and Community Service." by Bethune-Cookman College and numerous other accolades.
