Bishop Dr. Samuel L. Butts, Presiding Prelate
Bishop Samuel L Butts, is the Presiding Bishop of Sacred Worship Ministries International and he also serves as Senior Pastor and Overseer of Butts Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ of East Central Florida, Inc founded in 1968 by his late grandfather Bishop Eddie Butts, Sr. The Church is located in Daytona Beach, FL. He is also a family man married for 22 years to his lovely wife Rose and he is father to their three sons. He is also a Songwriter and Music Publisher. His most recent material was chosen as the title track for JDI recording artist “Evangelist Beverly Crawford, Live from L.A. Volume 2 “ It’s About Time For A Miracle”. He has also written for the Rev. Milton Biggham and the Georgia Mass Choir “Tell It” track 15 “We Worship You”. He has handled publishing for The Bright Star Male Chorus “I’ve Got A Reason to Testify” written by Rev Joe Battle and The Central Florida Mass Choir: track 3 “ The Lord is in this place”. He is also a member of SAGMA(Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy) and BMI( Broadcast Music, Inc.)As an Audio / Sound Engineer, Bishop Butts has to his credits: Kurt Carr, John P Kee, Allen and Allen and Karen Clark-Sheard. As a Recording Engineer: NASCAR, Time Warner, Allen & Allen, The Concert Chorale and Marching Wild Cats of Bethune-Cookman University, The Central Florida Mass Choir and The Butts Family Singers.As a Servant in the Lord’s Church: Bishop Butts has served in the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) an eight million member organization) as District Superintendent (The East Central Florida District) - COGIC Central Florida Jurisdiction #1 - Bishop Rushie L. Dixon (2006-2008). As Administrative Assistant to the Bishop, State Secretary, District Superintendent (Daytona District) and State Minister of Music - COGIC of East Central Florida, Inc. – Overseer Dr. Henry L Butts (1999-2006). He was ordained as an Elder in 1996 and served as State Minister of Music - COGIC Florida Six Jurisdiction - Bishop L. T. Weaver (1995-1999). Bishop Butts believed unto Salvation in 1981, received the baptism of the Holy Ghost in 1989 and was called to the Ministry of the Gospel that same year.As a Community Servant: He is also a Member of the National Action Network, Former Elected Vice President of the Daytona Beach Black Clergy Alliance, Charter Member of the Daytona Beach Police Ministers Alliance, Co Founder of Audio Logic Recording Studio and Music Technology Program (Bethune-Cookman University), Founder of the Daytona Beach “Back to School Gospel Music Festival” and Organizer of the Mayor’s Backpack Giveaway for the “Midtown Area” of Daytona Beach and a Charter Member of the COGIC Heritage Celebration Foundation of Central Florida. Legacy Church of God in Christ of East Central Florida, Inc.~ A brief history ~On March 29, 1962 a group of nineteen Elders and eleven churches from the Winter Park area of Florida came together to organize The Church of God in Christ of East Central Florida, with the late Superintendent Eddie L Butts, Sr. of Daytona Beach being appointed as their Bishop. This organization flourished for over six years before becoming formerly incorporated on August 26, 1968 in the State of Florida. The late Bishop Eddie Butts was born in 1907 in Wrightsville, Georgia. He was married to the late Mother Jestine Smith-Butts for 49 years and they were the proud parents of fourteen children. Bishop Butts was a graduate of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois and the Bible Training School of Cleveland, Tennessee. Before his passing, Bishop Butts served in the National Church of God In Christ, Memphis, Tennessee for over forty-five years under such great leadership as the late Bishop C.H. Mason, Bishop A. B. Mcewen, Bishop S. P. Nesbitt, Sr., Bishop A. M. Cohen and Bishop E. D. Johnson. As a residential builder, Bishop Butts was the pastor of most of the churches that he built. He built churches in St Petersburg, Sebring, Cocoa, Gifford, Sanford, Oviedo and Daytona Beach, Florida. God also anointed great women to serve with Bishop Butts as they met the needs of the people. These powerful and awesome individuals, such as Mother Ada Drummer, Mother Jestine Butts and Mother Ruth Blackshear, served the organization as Supervisors of the Women Department from 1968 until 1983. After the passing of Bishop Eddie Butts on January 14, 1976 the Church of God in Christ of East Central Florida, Inc. was then headed by his faithful and loyal assistant Bishop James J. Rice, Pastor of Church of God in Christ of Oviedo, Florida. Bishop J. J. Rice lead the organization to new spiritual heights and stability. Though short in stature, Bishop Rice was known for his prayer, praise and power being demonstrated with signs and wonders. Bishop Rice headed the organization from 1976 until his passing 1983.From 1983 through 1998 the organization went through a period of restructuring and new direction, until formerly being reorganized in 1999 by the late Overseer Dr. Henry L. Butts. Overseer Butts, son of the founder served as the head of the organization for seven years until his passing on May 17, 2006. Under his leadership the organization grew to over twenty churches, reaching through Florida, Georgia and Arkansas. Because of the favor of God and the faith of one individual, The Church of God in Christ of East Central Florida, Inc. is yet in existence after forty years. Mother Willie Mae Butts, Our Saintly Mother
Mother Willie Mae Battle was born in Montgomery, AL She married the Late Dr. Henry L. Butts on September 4, 1960. She graduated from Daytona Beach Community College, where she studied business and hospitality. When she was only 29 years of age, she became District Missionary of Western Louisiana Church of God In Christ under Bishop White. She has been an active missionary and evangelist in the Church of God in Christ for more than 50 years.Presently, Mother Butts is the Co-Pastor of Butts Miracle Temple COGIC and the General Overseer of Women of the Church of God In Christ of East Central Florida, Inc. She is a "fisher of men" for the kingdom of God. She travels extensively conducting soul-winning revivals. In her hometown of Daytona Beach, she is the founder and operator of the Westside Outreach Center, where she ministers to the temporal needs of people of all ages. She is also the co-founder of the Daily Bread Feeding Program. Mother Butts loves God and his people and doesn't mind sharing the good news that Jesus saves. She also hosts a weekly radio ministry on WAPN 91.5 FM and WPUL 1590 AM in Daytona Beach.Mother Butts is the proud mother of fourteen (14) children and was married to Dr. Henry L. Butts for more than 45 years. Our Statement of Faith
